Your Questions Answered – Pilot Medicals
Getting any medical exam can make you confused and anxious, especially on the run-up to the day of your exam. At Manchester Medicals, we get a lot of questions about our affordable pilot medicals services.
Instead of letting everyone continue to be confused before their all-important medical exam, we decided to answer all your pressing questions about your pilot medical.
What Should I Bring?
If you’re going for a medical exam, such as our affordable pilot medicals, then you will need to bring a collection of forms and documentation with you in order to pass the exam. Documents such as a photo ID, a previous medical certificate (if you’ve had a medical exam before), your glasses and contacts if needed, details of any past medical issues or past/present medication.
You will also need to bring a MED 160 form if you’re a first-time applicant to the medical exam. You can download the form online and print it off to bring with you.
Can I Bring Someone with Me?
Another one of our common questions is whether you’re allowed to bring a friend or relative to your medical exam. Like previously stated, sometimes exams can be anxiety-ridden nightmares for some. Although all our exams are performed by professionals, you are also allowed to bring a friend or relative with you to the exam if it would make you feel more comfortable.
If notified in advance, we are able to provide you with a chaperone. However, there are no intimate examinations during the exam that you need to worry about.
I’m Unsure of My Health Status
Sometimes, you might even be unsure of your current state of health. If you are unsure of whether you will pass the medical exam, please be sure to visit your GP before continuing with the exam.
Concerns like high cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes could be affecting factors in your exam, so always be sure to visit your GP before-hand to ensure you’re in top condition and health.
How Should I Prepare?
Although there aren’t any specific preparation steps to take before an exam, be sure to show up ready with all your documents. Be sure that you also prepare yourself for the procedure itself, just so you won’t come across any surprises during the exam.
Be sure to avoid any extreme exercise before the exam, as this can cause traces of blood within your urine. Exercise also raises your blood pressure, which of course can be an issue as this is one of the tests within the exam.
